Position Description
Position Title: Grants Manager
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director

Position Summary:
The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, developing, and writing proposals to secure funding in support of the Louisville Free Public Library (LFPL) and the Library Foundation. This position cultivates strong relationships with LFPL program staff and funders in support of the mission of LFPL and maintains detailed records, reporting procedures, and timelines.

Position Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive grants management program for the Library Foundation, including a tracking system for grant submission, reporting, and renewal deadlines
• Research and identify potential funding sources through professional relationships, reviewing grants files, following-up on leads, reading publications, and analyzing funding reference tools such as annual reports, foundation directories, and IRS 990’s
• Develop proposals and other request concepts in close collaboration with LFPL leadership and program staff and the Library Foundation’s Executive Director and Director of Development
• Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with funding contacts and program officers
• Persuasively communicate the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders
• Assemble and submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations, paying close attention to deadlines
• Coordinates the efforts of key staff members to ensure that documents are completed by the specified deadlines
• Ensures compliance with the rules and regulations administered by the grantor
• Performs functions of financial administration and reporting to include, but not limited to the preparation and timely submission of grant applications, budget, annual reports, financial expenditure reports, and annual performance reports
•Maintains all records required for monitoring, evaluation, and auditing of federal and state programs
•Works with the Executive Administrator to maintain and improve the grant and grantor tracking and reporting system in Bloomerang
•Assists the Executive Director in preparation for board and committee meetings, including reporting of fundraising results
•Works with Communication Manager for grantor recognition

Experience / Qualifications
•Minimum three (3) years of experience administering/developing federal, state and/or private/foundation grants
•Knowledge of grant processes including accounting and financial reporting
•Experience tracking and reporting data for multiple grant funders
•Proven ability to cultivate new and existing relationships with funders and program staff.
•Experience creating and maintaining a successful grant program and securing grant funding
•Proficient in Microsoft Office products and experience working in donor databases
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous organizational skills
•The ideal candidate will be professional, entrepreneurial, decisive, and will demonstrate a sense of optimism, creativity, ownership, and commitment
•Bachelor’s degree required. Significant equivalent experience will be considered
•Flexibility: must be willing and capable of adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
•Must be able to work in a close, cross-functional team environment, along with the ability to work independently

Salary and Benefits
•Salary: $55,000 to $60,000, commensurate with experience
•Generous benefits package including health insurance and a SEP IRA retirement account with 100% immediate vesting
