Learn the Facts: Impact of Recent Executive Order on Libraries

While the Louisville Free Public Library (LFPL) does not receive federal funding, it’s important to understand how recent changes could impact our rural sister libraries across the state.  These libraries rely on federal support to provide essential services such as internet access, community programs, and educational resources.

An executive order may put over $2.7 million in Kentucky library funding at risk, impacting essential services such as summer reading programs, family literacy, and internet access. This funding, from an Institute of Museum and Library Services grant, constitutes nearly a quarter of the operating budget for the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. (More on this from the Courier-Journal.)
