A recent study shows that 53% of millennials have used a public library in the previous 12 months. This result isn’t surprising given all the benefits available. For example, the Louisville Free Public Library (LFPL) offers:
– FREE classes (yoga, art, cooking, computer training…)
– FREE services (résumé assistance, 3D printers, laser cutters, recording studios, sewing machines, telescopes, computers, meeting space…)
– FREE programs (author talks, How-To Festival, concerts, meet your elected officials events…)
– FREE resources (books/e-books/audio books, music, movies, legal forms, online databases, online training courses…)
If you are an avid library patron (or are interested in learning more about LFPL) and would like to help create a new young professionals’ group supporting the library, we’d love to hear from you. A steering committee is now being formed to develop a group that will organize and participate in community/business events, encourage adult reading, support youth literacy programs, assist with fundraising, and more.
